This elegant young Mexican rosy boa Lichanura trivirgata trivirgata was found on a paved road in Baja Sur, Mexico, EXACTLY as predicted by an old California pal with extensive experience there.  He told me about this "guaranteed road" that virtually never failed to produce rosy boas when driven at just the right time of night.  Well, I was a little skeptical, as no one seems to be able to reliably find rosy boas that easily.

My buddy was right!  This boldly striped individual was right where it was supposed to be, right when it was supposed to be there.  Gotta hand it to him - it was a case of 'No brag, just fact' last September (2002) when he proved he knew exactly what he was talking about!  The snake was released after the brief photo session.
